John and I are excited about the upcoming 2012 Edition. Two highlights in the new edition, thanks to Hans Jakob and Eli, are a comprehensive update to Svalbard and a new “Landfalls and Favourite Harbours” section for each mainland chapter.

And, last but definitely not least, we thank all of you for your many contributions over the years. We couldn’t do it without you!

Norwegian Cruising Guide Status Update

At over 600 pages, with more than 860 harbours/anchorages, the 2010 Edition of the Norwegian Cruising Guide is already the most comprehensive and up-to-date English-language guide to the Norwegian coast. But if you think the 2010 Edition was comprehensive and up-to-date…wait until we publish the 2011 (7th) Edition of the Guide!

While it is still is permitted to anchor here, landing on the spit south of the anchorage is no longer permitted. A detailed map of the No Trespassing area can be had at the Sysselmann’s office when you register at Longyearbyen. (Printed version Vol. II, p. 212; eBook, p. 500.)

Ytre Norskøya, NW Spitsbergen–Update

Oslo—Update

The Holmenkollen Ski Jump in Oslo, Norway The Holmenkollen Ski Jump, which was an Oslo attraction due to the incredible view as well as the ski museum located there, has been closed since 2008 while being rebuilt. It is now open once again. The view from the observation deck is definitely worth the journey! (See Oslo in the Norwegian Cruising Guide—Vol. 1 printed version, p. 95; eBook, p. 117.)
