7th Edition Updates #4

Updates-BannerThank you to Neil who has sent in the following great updates to the Guide:

Sogndalsstranda, Vol. II, p. 141:

As of April this year, there is a new guest dock at the northeast corner of the harbour, inside the east mole. Depth alongside is approximately 2.5 m. Water and power are available on the dock. No dues requested. Once mooring buoys are installed, mooring will be bow or stern to.

The swell outside was a nasty 1 to 1.5 m, but Neil reported this died immediately on entering at Langholmen.

Gyarhavn, Vol. II, p. 146:

A bent white perch marks a rock on the north side of the entrance. There is a cookhouse ashore with firewood and a stove as well as several BBQs. From the dock in the north corner there is a good trail, marked with red paint splotches, east to the top of the cliffs and on to the next bay and further. About 100 m up that trail, another path leads sharp left to the top of the rocky hill north of the anchorage, and then further.

Sounds like some good exploring to be had here!

Kvalstadbukta, Vol. II, p. 265:

Ooops! Apparently the dock is in the northwest corner, not northeast as we report in the Guide. Thanks, Neil, for being gentle with us: “Not a big issue, since it is easy to find.”

The deer station manager is very helpful and the docking dues remain at 50kr.

Neil reports that the path up the east side of the island through the woods is beautiful.

Selvbukta, Vol. III, p. 26 paper/p. 27 eBook:

A dock, pontoons and several industrial buildings have appeared since this harbour was last visited in 1996. Neil reports, however, that there is still room for one boat to anchor in 7 m depth, with room for more boats to anchor in 15 to 20 m depth, in good shelter, except from the northeast.

He reports that though this is a secure somewhat attractive anchorage conveniently located en route to Trondheim, it is not one he would seek for its own sake.
