Hustadvika (Sognefjorden to Kristiansund) refers to the coastline north of Bud. This area has a reputation for big seas and tricky navigation and is designated a Coastal Danger Area, one of 24 along Norway’s coast. However, it’s also a stunningly beautiful area of islands connected by the 8-km long Atlantic Road, a construction marvel that The Guardian (a British newspaper) has designated one of the world’s best road trips. If you are lucky enough to have calm weather for this section, you can look back at the tourists in their cars looking at you! But do not attempt this passage in bad weather. You’ll wish you hadn’t!
